Summer Harvest
Gosh, it has been awhile since I have posted. So much going on this summer! Unseasonably cool weather for Kentucky with allot of rain. Garden did fair, had a large green pepper harvest and tomatos. Corn did not turn out, potatos did. Sorta a difficult year for the garden.
We have been working hard at the shop, reorganizing things and have had quite a bit of business. Still trying to get the cabin up and going.
Here is one of our fav recipies that is easy as pie! Tomato Pie that is.
Preheat oven to 400. One pie shell, not pricked, bake for 5 minutes. Lower oven temp to 350.
3 or 4 small to medium tomatos, peeled and sliced into rounds
1 small onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 can small drained mushrooms, or can subsitute 4 slices of chopped baccon
salt & pepper to taste
Layer tomatos in pie shell, sprinkle on onions, peppers, and mushrooms untill pie shell is filled.
Next:
1 3/4 cup mayo
2 cups of shredded cheese your choice! Swiss, Mozz. Pepper Jack or mixture
Combine cheese and mayo throughly and spread evenly across the pie, seal around the edges so juice does not seep out.
Place on cookie sheet and bake for 45 minutes.
Let cool for at least 10 minutes before cutting into serving slices.
Love this recipie cause it is so versitale! You can do just about anything with it and it will be good. For those of us watching or weight you can use the lite mayo and light cheese.
Next time I may make a Pizza Pie using veggies and some pepporoni, pizza sauce and the topping. Yum.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and will try to get back on track with my sites! Need to get some things on ebay too. Lately have been addicted to Face Book and find myself on there allot playing those "stupid" games that get you hung up on them.
Warm hugs and blessings to all!

Summer is for Family
We have had a great summer so far with family. My cousins came in from Corpus Christie TX. for a week and we had a nice family reunion last Sunday. More cousins came from Rhinneyville Ky. along with my Dad from Lancaster. We are a small family and do not get to see each other often. My son and his family got to meet relatives they had never seen before. Great company, Great Food and a Great Time.
This week our son from Jacksonville NC will be in with his family. He is in the Marines and will be headed for Japan (for 3 years) the fist of the year. So we are excited to see them. Another family reunion this Sunday!
The next week will be spent mostly in Lexington with Doctore appointments with specialiasts for my eyes, then my ENT Doc. I do not have anything listed on ebay at this time, but starting in August I will have time to post again! Plan on doing quite a bit as I now pay monthly to have my store front thru Auctiva.
Hope everyone is having a great summer! Stay Safe!!

Original 1960's Chatty Cathy's
Hello from Chatty Cathy Land!
These two darlings are up for sale on ebay. Follow my link to the online store.
I have collected so many dolls over the past 5 years that I need to downsize some. My husband says he is tired of looking at them! Not long ago I purchased an entire lot of Chatty Cathy Dolls (16 dolls in all) plus there was extra clothing and a couple of other cute old dolls. So, I have been going thru what I owned and what I purchased and found some I could part with.
I have Singing Chatty Cathys, Tiny Baby Chattys, Baby Chatty and Tiny Baby Brother Chatty as well as several Charmin Chatty's. For some reason the Charmin Chatty's are not selling like they used to! Still think they are a cute doll, the last one I sold very cheap so will probably hold on to the rest of them. I have found that just about everything goes up and down and back up again in allot of area's. Especially Doll's and Vintage Jewerly.
Hope everyone has a great weekend and come visit me in Chatty Cathy Land!

Blessed Easter Sunday
Every year at our small church we bring the cross to life with a mixtue of flowers.
The end result is quite beautiful and unique each year. After services the cross is delivered to the Nursing Home for the residents to enjoy for a few days. It is really nice that everyone brings some flowers (real & silk) to help bring the cross to life.
This year we had alot of fragrant Apple Blossoms!
Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter Sunday in whatever way makes them happy.
Blessings to you and yours.

Happy Easter!
Welcome! Happy Easter!
Well, it has been awhile since I've had the time to blog! So much has happened.
Have been working hard on our online shop (see sidebar) it takes allot of time to post for me! The Home and Garden Show was success! Had such a wonderful time meeting other vendors and guests to our booth. I will try to get some pictures up soon. A friend of mine, Barbara, helped me get the booth set up and we did a botique theme. There was a Derby Table, Angel Table, Pitcher & Wares Table, the front end of the booth housed all the concrete items I felt like taking. I pretty much sold out of Harley Davidson Concrete Wings and Bunnies! We had a wonderful time and look forward to participating next year.
My surgury went very well, will be going back for check up this Tuesday. I can breathe and sleep so much better it is amazing!
We took our grandkids for a short vacation for spring break this past week and enjoyed the time we had with them. So, allot going on but looking forward to things setteling down some.
Hope all of you enjoy your Easter and have a blessed day!

This falls under the category of "I wish I had known sooner."
I just found out that January 17 to 24 was "National Thrift
Week." Originally started in 1916 and sponsored by the YMCA,
it fell out of favor and disappeared in 1966. The Templeton
Foundation (think John Templeton of mutual fund fame) is
trying to bring it back with a site called "Bring Back Thrift
Week"
trying to raise interest, but they also have some very good
policy proposals (i.e. matched savings accounts for the low
income and children, a product safety commission for financial
products, increased financial education, etc.) This looks like
something that you'll want to check out.
All the Best!
The Lords Prayer
This old Folk Art Print says it all! Came across this a while back at an Estate Sale. It is set in a very nice old wood frame. Very detailed print with some of the Ten Commandments around the prayer. This is a mint piece, if you collect folk art. (Will try to post another picture on the side bar this is a close up.)
I love it because it is "our" traditional prayer that everyone knows.
Posting this for everyone who is suffering in this terrrible winter storm. May God Bless Each and Everyone!

Feeling Very Blessed
Feeling very blessed so I tried to make this blackberry pie from what I salvaged from the freezer, it may not be beautiful; but it was tasty!
Thanks for your comments and a special thanks to Pamela at Beehind Thyme for posting for me while we were without power. We survived with minimal damage. Tree limbs and trees down but not on the house or shop. Our power lines an phone lines were all down in the front yard, so we were without power from Monday Morning till Saturday Afternoon. Stayed warm with a propane heater. It did get cold at night but was very thankful to be able to stay in our home with our dogs. They were all scared!
What I missed the most was the computer! Never would have thought that would be the case. Sure missed checking on the blogs and chatting with everyone!
Received alot of emails as well and it is so neat to have such special friends that I have made thru blogging! Truly missed your sites and feeling connected.
So that is my Humble Pie, not taking for granted the things we need the most in our lives. FRIENDS. We can get by without power and other things we think are so necessary, but we need our connection with others, people we relate to and care about. So, Blessings to All of You!

Frightful Time...
Cathy ask if I would come on to inform you... that they are experiencing some REALLY BAD weather at this moment. ALL electricity is out with lots of damage in the area. They hope to be back up and running soon, but it doesn't look OR sound good.
Please, keep them & others in your thoughts & prayers.

Simple Pleasures
Tonight I am posting a tried and true easy Banana Cake that is great for Weight Watchers! Yes, I am a lifetime member now, so am always on the hunt for easy to make sweets!
Banana Cake
1 box yellow cake mix (any brand)
1 diet clear soda (Sprite, or store brand)
1 egg white
2 ripe banana's, mashed
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
In large bowl combine cake mix, diet soda, egg white. Beat on low speed for 2 minutes.
Add mashed banana's, and chopped nuts. Stir well. Place in a 13 X 5 baking pan and
bake at 350 degrees for about 38 minutes. Remember, oven temps vary!
Just leave in the pan and slice into regular squares, 2 points per square.
As you can see I like to do things very easy! This is really delicious and SIMPLE and CHEAP!
Everything rolled into one easy dessert that keeps well for several days.
My friend Pamela (Beehind Thymes) has committed to a simpler life style. Her latest blog has inspired me, well, Pamela always inspires me! Please check out her link on this site and I bet she will inspire you too!
Good common sense which we all need to use during these tough times.
I was a little down not to long ago and was talking to my Dad who is 78 years young and he told me this:
I would rather try something great and fail,
then to have tried nothing and succeed.
I do not know where he obtained this quote, but he has used it often in his life.
So, I will keep trying to obtain my goals and perhaps I will succeed! I have met alot of very nice people thru these last weeks since I have been blogging--have felt their support even though they do not know me very well. I feel their spirit and goodness and pray for each and everyone to have a great and simple life and that you succeed in whatever your goals are!
(Tried to add a picture but it won't let me, guess I goofed)
Blessings

Lisa like to barter her hand made jewelry and as you will see below it is BEAUTIFUL! We had fun visiting and bartering our wares. Lisa gave me the cute hand-did tribal style dolly pin cushion! It is darling with her bright colors and crocheted hair. She holds pins and Jewelry Pins. Just love her! Thanks Lisa for inviting me over, I truly enjoyed our visit. Loved your cute Kitty's.

Sunday Afternoon Tea and a chat!
Welcome to our Tea Party!
Such a gloomy day and what better way to spend the afternoon than indoors with tea, cookies and friends and conversation.
Right now Iam pondering allot of different things that are on my mind. Business, health, helping others and the list goes on! Our world is changing so fast now, the economy, layoffs, shorter work weeks, high prices on just about everything. What else can we give? Long for the days I remember as a child when everyone knew their neighbors and helped each other! We have become a society of wanting everything and wanting it now. Life has truly changed for us baby boomers, and many more changes are coming. What can we do to help? Get involved! I agree with my friend Pamela Anthony, we have to be frugal in alot of ways, not just with hard earned $$$ but with our environment. Pamela and I have done a little bartering between our business, and I love that I can get those beautiful hand-did's that I do not have the talent to create!
Look around you, how much do you have that you really don't need or use? What could be put to good use or traded/bartered with someone else? Think how this can save those $$$! I have been looking into some bartering sites and have met a few people who have some neat ideas. I will be meeting with one of them in Lexington this week. So there will be more to come on this topic. And, yes I am definitely considering bartering thru my shop!
Enjoyed our visit, please let me know what you think!
